Escalender is a project from Switzerland.

Liability

Escalender is built and tested with care. Even so, errors can creep in – for example a puzzle that doesn’t work as intended on a particular device. We give no guarantee that the website, builder and calendars will always run without errors or interruptions. So check your calendar with “Try it” before giving it away.

You are responsible for the content you add to a calendar yourself (texts, images, names). The operators of linked third-party websites are responsible for their content.

Found a bug? We’re glad to receive a short message and will fix it as quickly as possible.

Privacy

This translation is provided for convenience. Only the German version is legally binding.

In short: Escalender collects as little as possible. This statement is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). The controller is the person named above.

No tracking. This website does not count visits, uses no analytics tools and shows no advertising. The fonts are built in and are not loaded from third-party servers. A cookie is only set if you sign in (see below).

Hosting in Switzerland. The website and email are hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Geneva, Switzerland. When a page is accessed, the server stores technically necessary information in log files: IP address, date and time, page accessed, browser and operating system. This information is used only to keep the service running securely, is not analysed and is automatically deleted after a short time. More on this in Infomaniak’s privacy policy.

Builder and calendars. What you enter in the builder stays in your browser until you publish: drafts and settings are kept in your device’s storage (localStorage) and are not sent anywhere automatically. You can delete them at any time by clearing the site data in your browser. Progress in a calendar is likewise stored only on the device it is played on.

Camera. QR codes and AR images are recognised directly on the device. The camera is only switched on with your permission, and no images are transmitted.

AR puzzles. Only when an AR door is opened or an AR target is created in the builder does the browser load additional program components from jsDelivr, a worldwide content delivery network for software libraries (with servers also outside Switzerland, e.g. in the USA). In doing so, jsDelivr sees your IP address. Without AR puzzles, no such connection takes place.

Signing in. To publish, you sign in with your email address. We send you a code that is valid for 15 minutes; it is stored only in encrypted form. After you sign in, the website sets a technically necessary sign-in cookie (valid for 60 days, deleted when you sign out). We store your email address and when you last signed in.

Published calendars. When you publish, two things are stored on Infomaniak’s server in Switzerland: the finished calendar and your project. Anyone who knows the link can open the calendar – its contents are encrypted, and search engines are asked not to index it. You need the project (with the solutions) to change the calendar later from any device; only you have access to it after signing in. If you delete a calendar under “My calendars”, the calendar and project are gone immediately. If you would like to delete your entire account, an email is all it takes.

Self-hosted calendars. Anyone who uploads a finished calendar somewhere themselves is responsible for that location.

Email. If you write to us (for example via the “Idee oder Fehler melden” button – report an idea or a bug), we use your address and message only to reply and to improve Escalender. We do not pass them on, and we delete them once they are no longer needed.

Your rights. You can ask at any time what data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. An email to the address above is enough.

Changes. If new features are added (for example payment), we will update this statement beforehand.
